Our Role

Community Pharmacy South East London (CPSEL) acts as the representative body for community pharmacy contractors across the area. Our role is to bring together the voice of local pharmacies and ensure it is heard clearly within the wider healthcare system.

We represent contractors in discussions with the NHS, South East London Integrated Care System, and local partners, advocating for the value and impact of community pharmacy. This includes influencing service development, supporting fair commissioning, and helping ensure pharmacies are recognised as an essential part of primary care.

Alongside our representative function, we provide practical support to contractors. We help interpret national policy, provide updates on contractual changes, and offer guidance to support day-to-day service delivery. Our aim is to make it easier for pharmacy teams to focus on patient care while staying compliant and informed.

We also play a key role in connecting pharmacies with the wider system — helping to build relationships with GP practices, primary care networks, and other healthcare providers. By doing this, we support better integration and more joined-up care for patients.

Importantly, we listen. We actively seek feedback from contractors, understand the challenges they face, and use that insight to shape our work and influence decisions at system level.

At its core, our role is to represent, support, and strengthen community pharmacy so it can continue to meet the needs of local people and communities.
